2026 Opening Lunch / Meeting

Ahoy CBCers! (Bcc’d)
Here’s hoping you can join us on Saturday, May 9th at 11:45 for the Opening Lunch Meeting. Thanks to Scott & Mickey Doran, our gracious hosts and clubhouse sponsors, we’ll be gathering at Providence Clubhouse in Annapolis/Mill Creek. Cruise-in by car or boat and help kick-off our 52nd season on the Bay. Lunch will be catered by Red, Hot & Blue (RH&B) and CBC is picking up the tab! Kindly reply/RSVP by Saturday, April 25th, to gauge attendance and help figure out food quanities and supply needs.
Our guest speaker will be Scott Stusek, a Yacht Insurance Specialist with Brown & Brown, a company “ranking among the top insurance intermediaries worldwide.” Scott has worked in this industry for 30 years and 12 years in yacht sales. He was also a private sailing yacht captain here in Annapolis for 5 years running a family owned Vagabond 47. Scott will give an overview of current insurance conditions, how we got here, what the underwriting climate is like, how to get the appropriate insurance, and the older boat dilemma.
Invite a Prospective New Member to Attend
The Opening Lunch is an opportune time to introduce a prospective member to the Club. If you know (or meet) someone with an interest in sailing and possibly joining, invite them to stop by, have lunch, and stay for all or just a portion of the meeting. Im happy to follow-up with anyone that shows interest in exploring membership whether they attend on the 9th or not; just provide contact info where they can be reached or share my mobile number. (On the “Joining” page of CBC’s website, there is a direct link to reach me by email.)

Location: Providence Club House, 260 Providence Road, Annapolis, MD 21409. (Weather permitting, we can sit on the deck and take in the view. (Directions by boat are below.)
Schedule: (approximate, subject to day-of tweak )
—11:45-12:30: Greet, Meet, Mingle & Nibble
—12:30-1:30: Grab a plate and enjoy lunch
—1:30-2:15: “Yacht insurance, ‘Risky business’ for both insurers and Insured’s alike” (Townhall format, includes Q&A)
—2:15-2:45: Comments on preliminary calendar before finalizing (copy on the website). Brief officer reports
—2:45: Ajourn and Clean-up (Help needed returning tables&chairs to the basement.)

—RH&B: Veggie Platter w/Dip
—RH&B: Pulled Pork or Pulled Chicken (select one and include in RSVP)
—RH&B: BBQ Baked Beans, Green Beans, Coleslaw, Potato Salad & Buns
—RH&B: Mac&Cheese
--**Members (if able): appetizers, sides, or desserts to share. (Not required, but appreciated; this custom is a carryover from the 1970’s!)
What You Need to Know and Do (thank you!)
(1) Reply/RSVP soonest or by Saturday, April 25th; please include Robin Isaacson (cc’d) on your email reply. You may also text or leave voicemail for Rebecca on 202-841-1086.
(2) Info to include in your reply/RSVP:

—Entrée choice for each person: Pulled Pork or Pulled Chicken? (select one)
—Name and contact info for any prospective member(s)
—**Bringing an appetizer, side or dessert to share? If yes, name it or indicate the category type. (Also bring the appropriate serving utensil needed for your item.)
(3) Bring your preferred beverage
(4) CBC will provide: Ice, water, cups, plates, and utensils
(5) If handy, wear your CBC name badge. (Stick-on badges will be available)
Arrival by Boat
If you plan to arrive by boat, contact Mickey Doran in advance—call 443-510-8860 or email [email protected]. Voyage to and enter Mill Creek (just north of the Severn). Once inside continue to Marina (bearing at about 10:00). Temporarily, tie to the end of any dock. Call Mickey when approaching the creek and he will be around to help guide you to slips that are available.
