Oct. 2-4 : The Fifth Annual Bristol Rendezvous and Chili Raftup
Reminder - It's only a month away: The Fifth Annual Bristol Rendezvous and Chili Raftup sponsored by Chesapeake Bristol Club is being held October 2-4, in Harness Creek. As well as our regular members, we hope to be joined by fellow Bristol owners who are not members of CBC (yet). As most of you know, Harness Creek is a beautiful creek on the north shore of the South River, the next river south from Annapolis. As we have in previous years, we are hoping that some fellow Bristol owners who are heading south and planning to be at the Annapolis Sailboat show will join us for the event as well as members of the Bristol Sailing Facebook page who live in the Chesapeake and are new to CBC.
If you can’t come by boat but want to join us by land, you can get to Harness Creek through Quiet Waters Park. This Anne Arundel County gem is an excellent walking area with three dog parks. When you arrive by car, follow the signs for Eastern Watersports SUP and we will pick you up by dinghy from the dock. It is about a half mile walk from the parking lot. Let us know when you arrive by calling Lynne Hoot on 410-991-9699.
Albetross (my B43.3) will have the anchor down by 3:00 pm of Friday for those arriving early for a long weekend. On Friday, we will have an informal cocktail hour; bring appetizers to share. The main event will be a chili and cornbread dinner starting on Saturday, October 3, at 4:00 pm. Chili and cornbread will be provided by CBC and we ask that you bring appetizers and desserts to share. There is no cost for the event, but we ask for pre-registration so we know how much to cook so we need to have boat names and number of people. Maybes are welcome up to October 1st, we cannot guarantee food for folk that register late, but we will still welcome you to join us. On Sunday morning we will have an informal group walk and talk through Quiet Water Park.
So who’s in? The Chesapeake has some of its nicest weather in October.
Please RSVP as soon as possible – again, we need boat name and number of people attending and if you are coming by land or sea!

Bristol sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay is the Club’s nostalgic heritage and building our Bristol fleet continues to be a Club goal. Membership is open to all who enjoy sailing or listening to old salts spinning yarns. The CBC is a social and sailing club with no clubhouse, a year-around calendar of events, and cost of membership is minimal. To be a member you don’t have to own a Bristol (or any boat). Dues are still only $45 per year. We would welcome the opportunity to introduce you to CBC members and answer questions you may have. Here is a home-built ice boat. Originally the steering was in the stern . However, gusts of wind caused the boat to frequently weathervane, The boat was altered to forward steering to eliminate the problem.
