CBC, the Chesapeake Bristol Club was founded by a few Bristol owners in 1974. The Club was formed
to promote the sport of yachting as well as the enjoyment of the yachting by individuals and
families. The CBC founding principles included the promotion of technical and educational
interests for the membership. The final goal was to enhance the social enjoyment and
fellowship of its members.
The first official CBC raft was held on July 20, 1974 in Swan Creek and was attended by 19 boats.
In the early years, the membership was limited to Bristol sailboats owners with a great emphasis on
racing to various destinations around the Bay. As the years progressed, CBC membership and
nature of the club has changed. Today, the majority of boats are non Bristol sailboats.
Members now own a diverse array of sailboats from over 25 different manufacturers. There is also a
trawler in the club.
CBC has evolved into a cruising club. We have no clubhouse so we sail to get together
on the water. Our activities include planned cruises, informal weekend rendezvous, shore party
destinations, etc. To see our most recent schedule of activities, destinations and planned
events, click on ACTIVITIES. Click on NEWSLETTER to see some of our most
recent events.
CBC now enjoys the reputation as one of the oldest saling clubs on the Chesapeake
Bay and always welcomes prospective members who enjoy sailing and fellowship on the water.
